I have not had much time to post anything lately, and think this photo is enough explanation!
Oh, but how wonderful this has been...

On Friday, June 25, at 11:56 pm, Amy and I were blessed with the arrival of Sabrina Raphaelle. She joins her proud big sister Liliana.

This is the last post before Liliana becomes a big sister! The next photo posted here will probably be of a newborn...

The post-processing was a little more complex than it has been until now, with at least six masked adjustments layers, in addition to some burning and dodging added to some of the layers. I am starting to pay more attention to details, so I expect this trend of more complex processing to continue.

This was edited entirely in the LAB color mode, mostly with masked Curves layers as I learned in the Chromasia Photoshop Tutorials.

Besides the usual adjustment layers, I dodged and burned quite a bit to even our the exposure and increase detail in certain areas. As always, I welcome your comments.

Fence

I used a different technique for the B&W conversion here: application of a white to black gradient filter. The original lacked contrast, and this technique seems to have added more of it to the photo than my other usual conversions.

On a different note, I have added a link to my Twitter account in the menu. With Twitter, I will announce new blog entries and post links to photo-related sites, tutorials, etc...

And finally, I am working on a few tutorials which you will soon be able to find by clicking on the menu at the top of the page.

While the post-processing was time consuming, the final photo is not that much different from the original. It did involve a first for me, however: the use of a mask to selectively apply curves to the bird only. I definitely prefer this method to the one I have been using, which is to select and copy areas of a photo and edit them separately in different layers.
